Looking to file an extension? Below is the information for Arizona residents wishing to file for an extension of time to file for both federal and state taxes.

Federal Taxes

Complete IRS Form 4868 to receive an automatic six-month extension to file your federal income taxes. Form 4868 should be filed before April 18, 2011.

Arizona State Taxes

Arizona taxpayers who cannot file their return by the due date may file IRS Form 4868, and then check the "Filing Under Extension" box 82F on the Arizona tax return.

If you do not file Form 4868, or are making a tax payment with your extension request, you must file Form 204. An Arizona extension cannot be granted for more than six months beyond the original due date of the return. Arizona will grant an automatic six-month extension to individuals filing Forms 140, 140A, 140EZ, 140NR, 140PY, 140PTC or 140ET.

According to the Arizona Department of Revenue, all requests for an extension must be postmarked on or before April 18, 2011.
