Federal Taxes

Complete IRS Form 4868 to receive an automatic six-month extension to file your federal income taxes. Form 4868 should be filed before April 18, 2011.

Connecticut State Taxes

Connecticut taxpayers who do not file IRS Form 4868 can request an extension of filing Connecticut state taxes by filing Form CT-1040 EXT. Form CT-1040 EXT will provide a 6 month extension of time to file Connecticut state income tax returns only.

Note: if you do not expect to owe any additional tax to Connecticut for the 2009 taxable year, and you have requested a federal tax extension, it is not necessary to complete Form CT-1040 EXT.
