Georgia taxpayers who do not file IRS Form 4868 can request an extension of filing Georgia state taxes by filing Form IT-303. Form IT-303 will provide a 180 day extension of time to file Georgia state income tax returns only.

Note: if you have filed and received a federal extension of time to file, it is not necessary to complete Form IT-303. However, you will need to attach a copy of your approved federal extension to your Georgia tax return when filing.
